Credit When Credit is Due is a course that helps our family partners learn ways to eliminate debt and make smarter decisions on ways to manage money.

The course consists of:

  • banking basics
  • credit repair
  • budgeting
  • debt reduction
  • insurance
  • spending habits
  • savings strategies

Life After the Housing Crisis — A New Start is a six-hour workshop offered on a quarterly basis to family partners who have participated in our HARP program. This provides them with the opportunity to debrief their foreclosure experience and gain closure on this major life event. The workshop includes a financial literacy component.

The core curriculum is based on two programs, FDIC MoneySmart and/or Credit When Credit is Due.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) offers free tax help to low and moderate income families (generally $45,000 and below). It is provided annually to area residents, but is also available to residents from across the state.

Central Jersey CDC is a VITA site. A collaborative partnership with the IRS provides for CJCDC to recruit, train and maintain a volunteer force of professionals that sign up every year to provide community service to local families.
